Formed to preserve and commemorate Ybor City’s colorful history, this museum is a highlight of any vacation to Tampa’s national historic area. Once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World,” cigars were big games and had an incredible financial impact on the area. Housed in the restored historic Ferlita Bakery, the museum claims both temporary and lasting exhibits that demonstrate how the immigrant cigar operators and their families existed and worked, creating an individual social life and community organizations. Outside you can search the peaceful 19th-century-style field and tour a “casita,” agent of a typical cigar worker’s home.
This much-loved theme park/dinosaur museum placed just outside Tampa Florida in nearby Plant City is home to over 150 life-size dinosaurs hold an animatronic scene highlighting a Triceratops, Brachiosaurus, and Pterodactyl among others. Paragon for both little dino fans and “big kids” still excited by the prehistoric giants. After getting face-to-teeth with the beautiful model dinosaurs, realistically set amidst green native vegetation, you can become paleontologists and filter through a dig in search of remains to take home.
